About

Holly Schu is an application systems analyst/developer for Washington State University. In her 20-year career at Washington State, she has worked as a desktop support specialist, a web designer/developer and an application developer. When not at work, Holly enjoys camping with family, crocheting, coding tutorials and riding her motorcycle.

Why I love programming

  • I love problem solving.
  • I love creating really cool things just by typing some words into a code editor. It’s like magic.
  • I love the strict rules. One character is out of place and your code won’t work.
  • I love that there are many ways to accomplish the same task. Part of the challenge is finding the best tools and paths for the situation.
  • I love the way well written and commented code looks in a text editor.
  • I love the way it feels to finally figure a complex issue out.
  • I love presenting the completed product to the client and having it exceed their expectations.
